This is a 1914/3 Buffalo (Indian Head) nickel. The remnants of an underlying 3 are visible as curves to the right and left of the top of the 4. This variety catalogs as FS#5c-014.87. It is estimated by the Cherrypickers' Guide that there are 33 to 64 examples of this variety available. The example pictured grades PCGS AU55.
