Assayer E beneath mintmark.

Diameter: 31 mm.

Mintmarks used for Cartagena 1621-1655: RN, S, NR, sometimes NER (assayer initial E in the middle), and C.

4 Reales cob reverse Date nearly off flan (at 11 o'clock) - bottom loop of "8" visible in front of HI (SP) ANIAR (M) ("SPAIN") on the reverse.

 

1772 Bogota mint, 2 Reales.

Mint mark "NR" (Nuevo Reino). Assayer VJ.

Rare first year of Portrait Series of coins. Superceded crude cob coins.

Charles III of Spain.

Diameter: 31 mm.

Mintmarks used for Bogota (Santa Fe) 1622-1819: NR, also S or SF on later cobs.
